Gower Reading Enrichment

Helping our students grow as readers

The Gower Foundation is dedicated to helping all of our students grow their love of reading and achieve their personal reading goals. We do this by supporting the district’s twice-yearly book fairs; purchasing books from classroom and library wish lists; funding Gower West’s birthday books program; supporting Gower students who participate in the Illinois School Library Reading Award Challenges (Monarch, Bluestem, and Caudill); hosting our annual Read-A-Thon; and more.

Ready for Summer Reading? There are several reading challenges your readers can attempt, including at Indian Prairie Public Library, where Gower has a chance to win a third year in a row as the area school with the most students completing the challenge. Note, while not all Gower students live in the IPPL district, all D62 students are eligible to participate in this program. Additionally, Parents that love nostalgia might like to know Pizza Hut's "Book It"challenge is back, and
