Gower Reading Enrichment
Helping our students grow as readers
The Gower Foundation is dedicated to help all of our students grow their love of reading and meet their personal reading goals. We do this by supporting the district's twice-yearly book fairs, buying books off the classroom and library wish lists, purchasing Gower West's birthday books, supporting Gower students who participate in the Illinois School Library Reading Award Challenges (Monarch, Bluestem and Caudill), hosting our annual Read-A-Thon, and more.
Ready for our Read-A-Thon? This year we're bringing back the Bingo-style form and students can earn prizes by completing reading-themed Bingo squares and fundraising. All money raised will go back to Gower supporting reading enrichment, author visits and books for classrooms & libraries.
Key dates are as follows:
-
Kick off 1/30 with One Book, One School- The World According to Humphrey
-
Bingo cards will go home week of 2/2
-
Completed Bingo Cards due by Friday 3/7
This October, Janine Asmus, The Innovative Librarian, shared a presentation on Innovative Reading Solutions for students, families and schools. A copy of the presentation can be found here.
